Only 7% of India’s engineering graduates are employable: Rajiv Pratap Rudy, MoS, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge)

Only 7% of India’s engineering graduates are employable revealed the Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship – Rajiv Pratap Rudy. The minister was speaking at ASSOCHAM’s Summit-cum-Awards on Skilling India - From Skills to Prosperity in New Delhi. He also applauded ASSOCHAM for its role in the government’s Skill India campaign.

Addressing the gathering, MD and CEO, NSDC- Manish Kumar opined that a supply driven approach for skill development was appropriate for India, considering India’s demographic dividend.

Also, present on the occasion was the Director, Tata Institute of Social Sciences – Professor S Parasuraman who suggested that skill development in the country needs to be focused both locally and externally.

The summit also witnessed the Award distribution to the best performers in the field of skill development across 17 categories. 

The Inaugural Session was preceded by Curtain Raiser Session on Issues and Challenges and Success Story Presentations from the Industry.
