India needs to invest $2 Trillion in infrastructure over the next decade: Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Railway Minister

We need to invest over $2 Trillion in infrastructure over the next 10 years. This was said by the Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu at the India Innovates Conclave in New Delhi. The Event was jointly organized by ASSOCHAM and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India in partnership with ERICSSON. The Minister added that investment in infrastructure should bear in mind the needs of the future.  

 Addressing the gathering the Joint Secretary DIPP – Rajiv Aggarwal observed that India was now the world’s 6th largest spender on research and development. He added that India has great potential for innovation, all it needs is an innovation enabling ecosystem.

 Also, present on the occasion was the Principal Director, European and International Co-operation, EPO – F R Hannart. He observed that Indians have for quite some time been leading in the field of innovation. 

The conclave also witnessed awarding the best performing Indian ICT start-ups under 3 different Streams- Social Impact, Software and Apps, and Hardware and Devices. Thereafter, selected dignitaries were felicitated for their contribution towards promoting IPR. 

Prominent dignitaries that participated in the conclave included the Group Co-ordinator and Senior Director, Department of Electronics and Information Technology – Dr Debashish Dutta; Vice President, IPR Policy, Ericsson – Monica Magnusson; Vice President and Head, Technology, Government and Industry Relations, Ericsson India – Manoj Dawane, President of ASSOCHAM – Sandeep Jajodia; Senior Managing Committee Member, ASSOCHAM  – Babu Lal Jain and Chairman of ASSOCHAM’s MSME Council – Manguirish Pai Raiker, besides others.
