Consumer Protection Bill should pass in next parliament session: C. R. Chaudhary, MoS, Consumer Affairs

The government is hopeful of passing a new Consumer Protection Bill stated Minister of State. Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution – C. R. Chaudhary. He was speaking at ASSOCHAM’s COSMe India 2017 – Annual Conference cum Awards on Cosmeceuticals, Cosmetics and Personal Care in New Delhi. Delivering his address, the minister noted that the industry was growing at the rate of 15% p.a. He also applauded ASSOCHAM for organizing the conference. 

The Guest of Honour on the occasion was the Member of Parliament – Dr. Udit Raj who noted that despite massive growth in the last few years Indian entrepreneurs were lagging behind when it came to research and development. 

Also, present on the occasion was the Chief Director General, Japan External Trade Organisation – Kazuya Nakajo who observed that Indian ayurvedic products were becoming increasingly popular in Japa. He also spoke of the possibilities for collaboration between Japan and India in the cosmeceutical sector.

The event also witnessed the launch of a knowledge paper jointly prepared by ASSOCHAM and TechSci titled “Indian Cosmeceutical, Cosmetics and Personal Care Market 2022,” besides the felicitation of the best performers in the field. The inaugural session was followed by discussions on themes such as Cosmetics and Personal care Industry in India: Regulatory and Marketing Challenges and Role of Technological Innovations in Strengthening the Cosmetics and Personal Care Industry.Prominent dignitaries that graced the occasion included Research Director, TechSci – Karan Chechi; Executive Director, Shree Baidyanath Ayurved Bhawan Pvt. Ltd. – Anurag Sharma; Chairperson, Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies – Dr. Blossom Kochchar; Scientist, Bureau of Indian Standards – U. S. P. Yadav; Director, Varija Design Studio – Varija Bajaj; Founder, Chase Aromatherapy Cosmetics – Dr. Naresh Arora and Chairman, ASSOCHAM National Council on Healthcare and Hospitals – Dr. B. K. Rao besides many others.
