Power sector may see price rise in GST era: Sujit Ghosh, Partner and National Head, Advaita Legal

The Power sector may see a surge in prices in the GST era. This was said by the Partner and National Head, Advaita Legal – Sujit Ghosh. Mr. Ghosh also complimented the government on the successful rollout of GST. Presenting the inaugural address, the Joint Commissioner, Department of Trade and Taxes, Government of NCT of Delhi – Ranjeet Singh assured that audience that the government was cognizant of the issues and was committed to resolving them. The Chairman of the ASSOCHAM Special Task Force on GST – Pratik Jain stated that the government seemed to be over active when it came to anti-profiteering. He added that the anti-profiteering measures would need a relook. The event also witnessed several technical discussions on Post GST Implementation Issues such as Legal Interpretational Issues, Issues relating to Transitional Provisions, Procedural Compliance Issues; Tax Administration related issues; Valuation Rules and Input Tax Credit under GST and Impact of GST on Trade and Industry. Prominent dignitaries that graced the occasion included the Executive Vice President, Services, GSTN – Kajal Singh; Commissioner, GST Delhi North – Himanshu Gupta; Partner BDO India – Manish Mishra; Managing Partner, Laxminarayan and Sridharan – V Lakshmikumaram; Co-Chairman, ASSOCHAM National Council on Indirect Taxes – J. K. Mittal and Secretary General, ASSOCHAM – D. S. Rawat besides others.
