Focused business delegations with specific objectives bring better results: Jt. Secy (Eurasia), MEA

We need to send focused delegations with specific objectives for better results stated the Joint Secretary, Eurasia, Ministry of External Affairs – G V Srinivas, as he spoke at ASSOCHAM’s 4th INDIA – CIS Business Conclave in New Delhi. Indian businesses need to increase trade with CIS countries using the best industry standards to be truly competitive, he added. He also spoke of the role that the Indian government can play in the process.

Also, present on the occasion was the Indian Ambassador-Designate to Kazakhstan – Prabhat Kumar, who offered all his support for furthering ties between Kazakhstan and India.  

Speaking on the occasion the Deputy Trade Commissioner, Trade Representation of the Russian Federation to the Republic of India, Embassy of Russia – Alexander Shschegolev expressed his hopes that India- Russia trade would continue to grow. He also informed the gathering of the imminent establishment of a Russia Trade House in India.

The welcome address on the occasion was delivered by the President, ASSOCHAM – Sandeep Jajodia who apprised the audience of the present scenario concerning trade between the Indian and the CIS region. He noted that Indian exports to the CIS region in 2016-17 amounted to $ 2.7 bn and this was bound to grow.

 The conclave also saw presentations on Investment opportunities in other CIS countries -Uzbekistan, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. Prominent dignitaries that graced the occasion included: His Excellency, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan – Farhod Arziev; Trade Counselor, Embassy of Belarus – Andre Karpechkir; Minister-Counselor, Embassy of Kazakhstan – Shamil Sultangozhin; Counselor, Trade and Economic, Embassy of Uzbekistan – Avaz Khodjiev; CEO, Viva Voyages and Holiday Merchants – Vikas Khanduri; Editor, – V. N. Jha and Secretary General, ASSOCHAM – D. S. Rawat, besides many diplomats and industry leaders.
