Industries and Institution must work together to ensure youth are employable: Upendra Kushwaha, HRD Minister

Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Department of School Education and Literacy- Upendra Kushwaha, emphasized the need for Industries and institutions to work together to ensure youth are employable. He was speaking at the “National Conference on Managing Change in an Evolving Economic Scenario”, jointly organized by ASSOCHAM and Management Development Institute at Gurugram.

Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of HRD- Anil Swarup gave specific examples of how to manage change, from his experience in the coal and education sectors. He highlighted the need for ideas to be conceived in terms of realities on the ground for them to move ahead. 

Technological advancements and changes offer fresh policy challenges. Former Director MDI, Prof. CV, Baxi asserted that the creation of institutional environments was crucial to facilitate change and development. Policies and reforms, he said, could come and go, but without viable institutions, no policy can achieve desired objectives. He cited Germany’s trade surplus of 62 billion dollars, as a case in point.

Former Senior Adviser, Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways and Advisor ASSOCHAM- Dr Arvind Kumar spoke of the need for stringent regulations and improved infrastructure and logistics to manage uncertainties. 

An ASSOCHAM-MDI Knowledge report on “Managing Change in Evolving Economic Scenario” was also released at the Event. 

The two-day conference saw Paper Presentations and lively Panel discussions on varied Topics such as “Changing Government Policies and Impact”, “Challenges for Business leaders in dealing with uncertainty”, “Financial Inclusion- Challenges and Opportunities” and “Managing Diversity at Work”.
